This article is for IT Contacts.
This article outlines the procedure for configuring Single Sign-On (SSO) in Pulse.
Before you start
You need the following details to set up SSO in Pulse.
- Administrator access to your SSO provider.
- SSO setup notification from your school's Pulse contact.
Part 1: Set up and verify your account
Verify your email address to sign in to Pulse for the first time.
- Open the SSO setup link provided in the email message sent to you by your Pulse contact.
- The Pulse email verification screen will appear. Select BEGIN.
- On the next screen, select REQUEST VERIFICATION EMAIL.
- Open the verification email and select Verification Link. You must verify your email address within four hours. If you can’t find the email in your inbox, check your Spam folder.
- The link will open a new screen to verify your identity. Select VERIFY.
- Set your new password. Your password must have at least eight characters made of letters, numbers and special characters (for example, # $ % & !).
- Retype your new password in the Confirm Password field, then select SET PASSWORD.
- You will be redirected to the login screen. Enter your new password.
- As you’re signing in to Pulse for the first time, you will need to agree to the Pulse Terms of Service. Tick I understand and agree, then select PROCEED.
Part 2: Set up SSO
This is the initial SSO setup screen. You will need to select your school's identity provider from the dropdown.
- Select SSO Setup.
- Select your identity provider from the dropdown.
- On the next screen, download the relevant setup guide for your school’s identity provider. Follow the instructions to configure your SSO.
- Once you’ve completed the steps outlined in the SSO setup guide, return to Puls and select I have completed the configuration of my School Identity Provider and PROCEED.
- Enter the SSO Provider information, which includes the SAML metadata file and the email address attribute name.
Note
If your identity provider is Google, you can only upload the SAML metadata file. If your identity provider is Microsoft Entra or ADFS, you can upload the file or provide the SAML metadata URL.
- The SUBMIT button will change its color into blue (active) once you’ve provided the SSO information. Select SUBMIT to continue.
- SSO will start provisioning. This can take up to 30 minutes.
Part 3: Activate SSO
You will receive an email notification when provisioning is complete.
- Open the SSO activation notification email and select the link (“click here”) provided in the message. Alternatively, you can sign in to Pulse.
- The SSO configuration test page will open. Select TEST SIGN IN.
- You will be redirected to the sign-in page for your SSO provider (for example, Google or Microsoft). Sign in with your SSO provider.
- You will return to Pulse to confirm your Pulse SSO email address. Confirm your email address, then select the This email matches the credentials used to sign in checkbox and PROCEED.
- You’re ready to activate your SSO. Select ACTIVATE.
- On the pop-up prompt to activate SSO, select OK. Pulse will confirm once your SSO setup is complete.
