Set up term dates and pause notifications during term breaks

Pulse lets you set your term dates and pause notifications during term breaks. There is a two-step process:

Before you start

  • Term dates apply to all your Pulse products. If you have both Staff Pulse and Student Pulse, you can have different settings for pausing during term breaks for each product.
  • We recommend pausing notifications for Student Pulse, since it will prevent Student Pulse from sending notifications to your students during term breaks. For Staff Pulse, the choice is yours - if the majority of your staff take leave during term breaks, you might want to enable this feature.

Step one: Configure your  term dates

  1. Sign in to your Pulse Coordinator dashboard.

  2. Select Term Dates on the left menu, then select Change.

  1. On the Change term dates pop-up, you can:
    • Add a term: Select + Add term and enter the Term nameStart date and End date.
    • Update a term Delete a term: Edit the term name and start and end dates directly on the Term nameStart date and End date fields.
    • Delete a term: Select the Delete icon (bin) next to the last term you entered, then select OK on the confirmation prompt.

  1. Select Save.

Step two: Set when to Pause notifications for term breaks

  1. Go to Pulse Settings.
  2. Select Student Pulse or Staff Pulse, as needed.
  3. Select Update Schedule to open the Pulse Schedule page.
  4. On the Pulse status section, select Change for Pulse will never pause notifications during term breaks

  1. On the Pause notifications during term breaks pop-up, select the toggle to pause notifications.
    • Switch on (green): Pulse will automatically pause notifications during term breaks. It will show the date when notifications will pause.
    • Switch off (grey): Pulse will not pause notifications during term breaks.

  1. Select Save to save your settings and close the pop-up.
  2. Repeat the above steps for both Staff Pulse and Student Pulse.
